Realtimecampaign.com Explains How to Sell AirPods for Cash to Help Pay for an Upgraded Set

Countless men and women own AirPods today. However, Apple continues to come out with newer models. As a result, a person might wish to sell their existing pair to upgrade.

For example, an individual might see the Best Apple AirPods deals available right now: February 2022 and decide they want a new pair. However, they must decide what to do with the old pair. While taking advantage of a deal to get the noise cancellation features and water-resistance of the AirPods Pro, they don’t want to throw away their existing pair. Should they sell them or throw them away?

Throwing Away AirPods

People should never throw away a pair of AirPods. Doing so harms the environment. The hard plastic in the headphones can take a thousand years before it decomposes while sitting in a landfill. In fact, Apple now includes an icon on the box that tells consumers not to throw the AirPods in the landfill.

Recycling AirPods

If the AirPods shouldn’t go to a landfill, the obvious choice would be to recycle them, right? According to Realtimecampaign.com, recycling headphones poses a challenge. While a recycler may shred the wired headphones before melting them to access the copper, the lithium-ion batteries come glued into the device. If a person attempts to shred these batteries, they can be a fire risk. Recyclers cannot remove the batteries either, as doing so comes with very high costs. Sending them back to Apple to be recycled is an option, as one can look at here.

Selling Used AirPods

Many consumers choose to sell their used AirPods when upgrading. Doing so offsets the cost of the new headphones. A person might sell the AirPods locally to someone they know or advertise them on a social media platform. However, many people today turn to BackFlip to sell their headphones, as doing so is easy and convenient.

Cleaning AirPods

To get the highest dollar amount, take time to clean the headphones before submitting them to a reseller. Wipe the headphones and case with a lint-free cloth or 70 percent isopropyl alcohol wipe. A Clorox disinfecting wipe or 75 percent ethyl alcohol wipe may also be used. Never run the AirPods under water or allow liquid into the openings, however, as this could damage them.

Clean the cushions and headband with a mixture of one cup of water and one teaspoon of liquid laundry detergent. Remove the cushions from the headphones and wipe them with a cloth dipped in the soap and water solution. Turn the headband upside down to ensure liquid doesn’t flow into any openings and wipe the band with the same cloth. Follow up by wiping the cushions and headband with fresh water on a damp towel. Use a dry, lint-free cloth to remove any remaining moisture from the cushions and headband. Allow them to dry overnight before reinstalling the cushions.

AirPods offer the latest in technology today. However, this technology continues to advance at astounding rates. If ready to invest in a new pair of AirPods, consider selling the old ones to help pay for the new set. Doing so allows one to recoup some money while getting new headphones that one loves and cannot wait to use. This provides one with the best of both worlds.
