Female-founded L’AVANT Collective was among 10 of 203 certified brands to receive a perfect rating.

L’AVANT Collective produces plant-based cleaning products.
“Our journey started almost 2 years ago, from surveying customers to formulation, 3rd party testing, packaging to today,” says Kristi Lord, co-founder of L’AVANT, “We created products to help clean up germs and dirt while keeping you and your products healthy and safe. We employ highly effective but gentle ingredients to ensure the best possible result, and we are so incredibly proud to have received this approval.”
The USDA helps consumers identify biobased products. For a business’s product to receive the USDA Certified Biobased Product label, it must meet stringent criteria set forth and approved by the USDA. This label helps provide consumers with useful information about the biobased content of the product and affirms the verified amount of renewable biological ingredients within the product.

L’AVANT Collective’s Biobased laundry detergent comes in scented and unscented versions.
Biobased products are derived from raw materials such as plants and other renewable agricultural, marine, and forestry materials. These substances provide an alternative to conventional petroleum-derived products. L’AVANT Collective utilizes natural ingredient sources like coconut, aloe, salt, olive oil, chamomile leaves, lemons, sunflowers, green tea, and corn in their products.
L’AVANT’s laundry detergent is concentrated and packaged in a 32-ounce bottle made with PCR recycled plastic. It is HE machine safe and outperformed other leading plant-based and conventional laundry detergents in performance tests. The product contains no bleach, dyes, phthalates, phosphates, or parabens. Lindsay Droz, co-founder of L’AVANT, says “In line with our sustainability mission, we sourced packaging materials using recycled plastic and created a formula that adheres to our commitment to delivering products that are safe.”

The USDA Certified BioBased Product program strives to increase the purchase and use of biobased products.
